Indian-origin truck driver arrested in US in California freeway crash killing three, was likely on drugs
PTC News Desk: A 21-year-old Indian national has been arrested in Southern California for causing a fiery crash that killed three people. The accused, Jashanpreet Singh was likely under the influence of drugs while he was driving a truck.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Singh was behind the wheel of a speeding semi-truck and failed to brake before colliding with slow-moving vehicles stuck in traffic congestion.

Witnesses described the crash as a massive impact that caused a huge fireball.
Singh has been arrested and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs.
Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, citing multiple sources, reported that Singh is an undocumented immigrant from India who was released by federal authorities at the California border in 2022.
The incident has provoked widespread outrage online, with many expressing grief and anger over the loss of innocent lives and questioning how Singh obtained a commercial driver’s license. Several comments have also raised concerns about drug use and road safety in California.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the crash victims.
