Hamas has initiated the release of hostages , including two Israeli women who were freed on Monday, and a couple of American women in the preceding days. According to media reports, it's anticipated that the group may release an additional 50 hostages soon.

The Israeli military, engaged in a multi-front conflict, announced on Wednesday that it had conducted a strike on military facilities within Syria. This action was in response to previous missile launches directed at Israel on Tuesday. In a separate incident, Israeli forces in the West Bank were fired upon during an overnight raid by a group of Palestinians. In retaliation, the Israeli military used a drone strike to target the assailants. According to reports from Reuters, this operation resulted in the death of two Palestinians, as confirmed by medical personnel.

On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared their state of preparedness for potential action along the southern border with Gaza. As reported by the news agency AFP, this announcement, cited from The Jerusalem Post, included a statement from IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt. General Herzi Halevi, who emphasised their readiness for any necessary action, stating, "I want to make it unequivocal - we are fully prepared for an intervention."

Earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel has only one task - crushing Hamas - and that it will not stop until the group is completely dismantled. "With the fighters in the field, we have only one task -- to crush Hamas, and we will not stop until we complete the task," the PM stated.
