PTC News Desk: A distressing incident unfolded in Surrey, Canada, as shots were fired at the residence of a prominent Hindu businessman. Satish Kumar, president of the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey, shared that his son's home faced an attack, enduring a hail of approximately 14 rounds.

The Surrey Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) revealed the unsettling event took place on December 27 around 8:03 am, targeting Satish Kumar's elder son's dwelling in the 14900 block of 80 Avenue. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, yet the house displayed damages consistent with bullet impact.

Law enforcement officers dedicated hours at the site, examining evidence, interviewing witnesses, and seeking potential CCTV footage from the vicinity. The Surrey RCMP's General Investigation Unit has taken charge of the case, striving to unveil the motive behind the assault.

This alarming event transpires amid a disconcerting trend—escalating vandalism and assaults targeting Hindu temples within Canadian Hindu communities. Recent incidents involved anti-India graffiti at the Lakshmi Narayan temple in Surrey, along with temple defacements in Brampton and the Greater Toronto area. These occurrences have surfaced alongside heightened pro-Khalistan activities, sparking calls for a separate Sikh state.

Community leaders implore authorities to investigate these acts as potential hate crimes, urging bolstered security measures for temples. The Canadian government has decried the attacks and promised support for affected communities. Despite these assurances, the Hindu community remains wary in the wake of these distressing events.
