Trump argued with Netanyahu over Khamenei's killing, then an approval: Inside call that sealed Iran Supreme Leader's fate

PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump reportedly gave a go ahead for US-Israel joint strikes on Iran following a telephonic conversation with Benjamin Netanyahu. The call happened less than 48 hours before the strike that sealed Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's fate.

During this fateful call, Israeli leader argued that there might never be a better chanceo kill Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Reuters.

The report further stated that both Netanyahu and Trump had intelligence reports confirming that Khamenei woul be meeting his lieutenants soon at his compound in Tehran and that would be the right time for what officials described as a potential “decapitation strike”.

Both leaders got on the call when new intelligence came, suggesting the meeting in Tehran had been moved forward to Saturday morning from Saturday night, Reuters reported, quoting three people who were briefed on the call.

According to the reports, by the time of the call, Trump had already signed off his approval for a military action, but had not decided when or under what circumstances the strikes will be carried out.

The first strikes were launched on Febraury 28, with Trump later announcing killing of Ayatollah Khamenei. Netanyahu has publicly dismissed suggestions that Israel pressured the US into war, calling such claims “fake news” and insisting that “no one tells President Trump what to do.”
