Where is Imran Khan? Ex-Pak PM's sisters demand proof of life amid death rumours, Adiala Jail responds
PTC News Desk: A day after tensions escalated outside Pakistan's Adiala Jail amid reports of former Prime Minister Imran Khan's death in solitary confinement came to light, the prison administration said the former Prime Minister was in good health and remained inside the facility. The jail administration said that the rumours are completely baseless and that Khan is completely healthy. He was receiving complete medical attention.
"There is no truth to reports about his transfer from Adiala jail. He is fully healthy," the statement said. The former Pakistani skipper and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief has been languishing in jail for over two years now in a web of corruption and terrorism cases.
Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan remains jailed in Adiala Prison with reports of solitary confinement and restricted access. His sisters' repeated attempts to meet him have been denied, leading to protests and alleged police violence.
Khan's sisters Noreen Khan, Aleema Khan, and Uzma Khan on Tuesday night protested outside the prison along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters and demanded that authorities allow them to meet their brother. Reports of Khan placed into solitary confinement also surfaced amid protests.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's defence minister, Khawaja Asif, claimed that Imran was receiving far more comfort in prison compared to what he had faced while being behind bars in the past.
"Check the menu of the food that comes for him. It is not available even in a five-star hotel," Asif said, according to Geo News. He also asserted that the former PM had access to a television, exercise equipment and other facilities. Asif said Imran had been provided a double bed and a "velvet mattress" as well.
