10 lakh employees of Public Sector Banks on strike
Sanjeev Kumar Bandlish, convener, United Forum of Bank Unions (Chandigarh) and general secretary, National Confederation of Bank Employees, said over 10 lakh officers and staff will be on a day strike across the nation today to protest the anit-people banking reforms of the government. Nearly 10 lakh employees are on strike today. As many as 21 public sector banks control 75% of the total business. Majority of the PSU banks have informed their customers about the strike. While the impact on services and operations at private banks like ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, are likely to remain normal except there can be a delay in cheque clearance. The unions claimed that as the conciliation meeting before the Chief Labour Commissioner failed, unions are left with no other option but to go on strike. -PTC News
