Cabinet Meeting postponed following Capt Amarinder's illness 

The Cabinet meeting has been postponed after the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, had been advised 48-hour rest because of viral illness he suffered last week. The meeting has been postponed to Tuesday afternoon.

Captain Amarinder Singh also skipped the Navjivan function on Monday in Mohali.

According to the media reports, the cabinet will discuss to extend the paroles to 16 weeks from the existing 12 weeks, as a part of the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.  Once this bill is approved, it will be tabled in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha session. It is scheduled to begin from December 13.

This amendment will enable prisoners to avail the parole of 16 weeks in just one go in the year 2019. Prisoners facing big crime charges will also be covered under this relaxation.
