The Supreme Court of India on Friday accepted the Assessment Scheme presented by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The board has prepared the Assessment scheme after the exams of Class 10 and 12 were cancelled across the nation. The exams have been cancelled in the wake of coronavirus pandemic induced nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the contagion disease.

The Supreme Court bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna permitted the board to issue notification for cancellation of examinations.

Meanwhile, the ICSE board told the top court that it may give an option to write an exam at a later stage to class 10 students as well. "Averaging marks" formula is different from CBSE, it said.
