Break the chain: Centre to 15 districts with high COVID case load, including Ludhiana, Patiala

While coronavirus cases have been rising in the country, the Centre on Friday has asked the leaders of 5 states, with a high number of active cases and deaths, to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission and reduce the death rate below one percent.

During a video with the Health Secretaries of 15 districts across Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, the Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan asked them to aggressively test and track patients.

These 15 districts include: Chittoor, Prakasam, Mysuru, Bengaluru Urban, Ballari, Koppal, Dakshina Kannada, Davangere, Ludhiana, Patiala, Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem, Lucknow and Kanpur Nagar.

It has also been reported that there have been exhibiting higher active caseload, death rates and a hike in coronavirus cases for the past four weeks.

Meanwhile, the Centre has asked these 15 districts break the spread of the infection by implementing containment measures and following social distancing norms. It also asked to follow strict peri-meter control, and active house-to-house case search.

The Centre has also directed these districts to conduct early identification of cases by ramping up the testing across the districts and monitor home isolation cases and ensure ambulance availability.
