Chennai airport on high alert after bomb threat call

Chennai airport officials were put on high alert after a bomb threat call to an airline, hours before the arrival of the vice president and defence minister to the Tamil Nadu capital on Friday morning.

As per official sources, The call was made to an airline operating flights between here and Hyderabad, and security measures had been put in place.

Twenty flights are scheduled through the day between the two cities.

Security was increased and the a high alert was alarmed at the airport in view of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s visit.
