Coronavirus: India records highest single-day spike of 24,850 new cases and 613 deaths in last 24 hours

India reported the highest single-day spike of 24,850 new COVID-19 cases and 613 deaths in the last 24 hours, as of Sunday morning. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 6,73,165 out of which 2,44,814 are active cases, 4,09,083 cured and discharged and 19,268 have died, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Sunday.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that the total number of samples tested up to July 4 is 97,89,066 of which 2,48,934 samples were tested on Saturday.

Deependra Rajput, Commandant 31st Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), stated that "139 CRPF jawans had tested positive for COVID-19 in Delhi. Till now, three jawans have donated plasma and more are willing to do so."

Currently, India is having the fourth-worst hit tally of coronavirus. However, it's close to Russia which is having 6,74,515 coronavirus cases so far. In Russia, 10,027 COVID patients have died so far while 4,46,879 patients have been cured and discharged and 2,17,609 are active cases.

The US is on the top with 2,935,770 cases out of which 132,318 have died 1,260,405, 1,543,047 are active cases. Brazil is on the second spot with 1,578,376 cases including 64,365 deaths, 978,615 recovered and 535,396 active cases.
