Covid-19 was over, but it is spreading again: Punjab Deputy CM

Coronavirus Punjab update: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister OP Soni on Monday said that the Covid-19 was over in Punjab but it has started spreading again.

While talking to the media persons, Health Minister OP Soni said that there is no case of Omicron variant of coronavirus in Punjab so far.

"Punjab government is prepared for the new variant, he said, adding that the Health Department has been working hard to be prepared for the new variant of the Covid-19.

He further appealed to people to get vaccinated and follow all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

On being asked about why people are not getting vaccinated, OP Soni said that people got vaccinated in huge numbers during the second wave of coronavirus, but when Covid-19 was 100 percent over in Punjab, people became careless.

In view of the rising cases of Covid-19, the Punjab health minister asked people to get vaccinated and follow the guidelines issued by the Central government or the Punjab government.

Meanwhile, Amritsar Health Department has not reported any positive case on Saturday. Currently, the district had a total of eight active cases. On the other hand, Punjab on Saturday reported 46 fresh cases taking the state’s infection tally to 6,03,451.
