Makar Sankranti was celebrated with much fervour on Tuesday in Bangalore. People in Bangalore celebrated this festival by smearing turmeric on cows and were made to walk over the fire.

According to the sources, it is a part of an age-old ritual to bring fortune and protection from harm. The city wore a rich look on Tuesday. People made colourful rangolis outside their houses, decorated houses with mango leaves and offered Puja to the cattle.

But it’s quite an irony that people of cyber capital of the country made the cows walk over a fire just to protect them from harm.
