Netflixs Operation Safed Sagar teaser salutes IAF heroes of Kargil War
Netflix drops the first teaser of Operation Safed Sagar, a gripping series on the IAF's Kargil War mission. Know the release date, star cast and story
PTC Web Desk: Netflix has given fans their first proper glimpse of Operation Safed Sagar, a new web series chronicling one of the Indian Air Force's most daring chapters during the 1999 Kargil War. The show is scheduled to premiere on August 7 and is helmed by director Oni Sen.
The cast includes Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin and Amrita Bagchi, each taking on roles central to the wartime narrative.
Siddharth took to Instagram over the weekend to release the show's first teaser, offering audiences an early look at the story. The series centres on the IAF's Golden Arrows Squadron, whose high-altitude airstrikes played a decisive role in backing Indian Army troops as they pushed back Pakistani forces during the conflict.
In the brief clip, actors Mihir Ahuja, Abhay Verma and Taaruk Raina step into the shoes of young fighter pilots preparing for a dangerous mission at extreme altitudes. Their characters are shown being trained and guided by more experienced officers, portrayed by Siddharth and Jimmy Shergill, who help them navigate the intense pressure of real combat.
This isn't the first time audiences have caught a glimpse of the project. Netflix had originally showcased an early teaser at the debut edition of the Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon in 2025. The series draws directly from the real-life Operation Safed Sagar, widely regarded as the highest-altitude air campaign ever undertaken and a turning point in India's military response during the Kargil conflict.
Running under a minute, the newly released teaser packs in glimpses of strategic planning, the rigours of pilot training, and the harsh realities faced on the battlefield while also hinting at the emotional weight carried by the soldiers involved. Adding to its authenticity, the show was shot on location at active Indian Air Force bases and incorporates actual MiG fighter jets along with IAF personnel.
Operation Safed Sagar is jointly produced by Matchbox Shots and Feel Good Films.
