Ahida Sarmai is a young actor who has touched many hearts with her role in Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Even though her screen time was short, her performance left a strong impression on the audience.

Ahida, who has Down syndrome, played the daughter of Arjun Rampal’s character in the film. Her role added emotion to the story, and people loved how natural and honest she was on screen. Her journey into the film is very interesting. Ahida was noticed after a video of her dancing to a song from the movie went viral on social media. The makers of the film saw the video, called her for an audition, and selected her very quickly. This shows how talented and expressive she is.

Recently, Humans of Bombay covered her story highlighting her journey. The story stated, "Some performances don’t need screen time… they just need truth. When Ahida Sarmai appeared in Dhurandhar, she had just a couple of lines. But somehow, that’s not what people noticed. What stayed with them was how she made them feel.

At just 15, she’s already breaking barriers as an actress with Down Syndrome. This being her very first film, Ahida stepped into a role that quietly shifted the narrative. In a story built around power and conflict, her presence brought something softer, something deeply human.

Off-screen, her journey didn’t begin in a studio. It began at home, with a simple video of her dancing. That one moment found its way to a casting team, and within a day, she found herself on a film set. But acting is just one part of who she is.

She paints, she sings, she performs, expressing herself in ways that go far beyond the screen. And maybe that’s what makes her presence so real. Because it doesn’t feel like she’s trying to perform. It feels like she’s just being. Sometimes, that’s all it takes."

Before Dhurandhar The Revenge, Ahida was already involved in creative activities. She has taken part in theatre and short films. She also enjoys painting and has shown her artwork in exhibitions. This proves that she is talented in many ways.

Ahida’s story is important because it brings attention to inclusion in cinema. People with disabilities are not often seen in films, and when they are, they are not always shown in a positive way. Ahida is helping to change that by proving that talent matters more than anything else.
