Actor and animal welfare supporter Rupali Ganguly has strongly criticized a content creator from Jaipur for painting an elephant during a photoshoot. She expressed deep concern over the treatment of animals and raised her voice against such practices.

Rupali, who has long supported animal rights and is associated with PETA India, recently wrote a letter to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. In her letter, she urged the government to take strict steps to end elephant rides across the country. She also suggested using alternatives like robotic elephants and other non-animal options for events and performances.

In her appeal, Rupali shared her sadness over the death of an elephant named Chanchal, which was involved in the photoshoot. She also spoke about another elephant named Malti, who was previously used for rides at Amer Fort. According to her, Malti was mistreated and later rescued and sent to a sanctuary for recovery after efforts by animal welfare groups.

Rupali highlighted that the issue goes beyond a single incident. She explained that elephants used for rides at tourist places are often chained when not working and controlled using harmful methods. This, she said, leads to serious physical and mental suffering for the animals. In some cases, the stress causes elephants to become aggressive.

She further pointed out that India could learn from countries like Indonesia, where elephant rides have been stopped. Rupali urged authorities to adopt safer and kinder alternatives, such as decorated electric vehicles or robotic elephants, to protect animals while still maintaining cultural experiences.
