Farmers' Protest: Samyukta Kisan Morcha suspends BKU leader Gurnam Singh Charuni

Farmers' Protest: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Gurnam Singh Charuni has been suspended by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha on Wednesday for his remarks that farmers must also contest polls.

According to the information, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, in a meeting, decided to suspend the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader.

Recently, farm leader Gurnam Singh Charuni had reiterated that the farmers should join politics to have a say in the policy-making process.

Even Samyukta Kisan Morcha leader Gurnam Singh Charuni had asked farmers to contest the upcoming Assembly elections and form a government in the state. However, the other leaders of the farm body had already rejected the idea.

Besides suspending Gurnam Singh Charuni, the SKM has clearly refused to support Sikhs for Justice. It stated that not a single worker of SFJ would be allowed to attend the July 22 protest in front of the Parliament.

It may be recalled that the Sikhs for Justice had said that it would accompany the convoy of farmers during the siege of Parliament. On this, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha has made it clear that it was a conspiracy to discredit the farmers' protest just like January 26.
