Brothers and sisters celebrate the bond of love on Raksha Bandhan

Happy Raksha Bandhan 2020: India is celebrating the special occasion of Raksha Bandhan also known as Rakhi. Rakhi celebrates the eternal bond between siblings. A sister ties a sacred thread or knot around her brother’s wrist while the brother promises to look after her and protect her.

Raksha Badhan is a time for family and friends to come together and enjoy the time. This year, Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated on August 3. Amid coronavirus pandemic, the celebrations are at low-key.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister took to Twitter and wrote: "Many wishes to all the countrymen on the holy festival of Raksha Bandhan."

Likewise, President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted: "Greetings on Raksha Bandhan! Rakhi is the sacred thread of love and trust that connects sisters with brothers in a special bond. On this day, let us reiterate our commitment to secure the honour and dignity of women."

Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur shared some picture celebrating Raksha Bandhan. She wrote: "Rakhri -a day which takes me back to the wonderful times I spent with my brothers -Gurmehar & Bikram & how they continue to bring happiness in my life. Gurusahab hamesha ehna nu salamat rakhn. My best wishes to bros & sisters who couldn't be together due to #pandemic restrictions."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday, tweeted: "Heartiest greetings to all the countrymen on the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan."
