In a fight against Covid-19, Central teams to assist Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, UP

The Union Government has decided to depute high-level Central Teams to Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh to support the States in COVID response and management.

The Union Health Ministry stated that these States are either reporting a rise in the number of active cases or demonstrating a rise in daily new cases.

The high-level Central Teams to assist Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh to support the States in fight against COVID-19.

The high-level central teams have been sent to four states -- Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh -- to help the state governments in a fight against COVID-19 amid the recent surge.

Last week, the Central Government had sent the high-level teams to Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Manipur, and Chhattisgarh.

The teams will visit the districts reporting a high number of COVID-19 cases and support the state efforts towards strengthening containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, and efficient clinical management of the infections.

The high-level Central Teams to assist Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh to support the States in fight against COVID-19.

The Central teams would also guide in managing the challenges related to timely diagnosis and follow up, the government said.

In Punjab, Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan said that all the officials concerned have been directed to ensure that a minimum of 15 contacts of each positive patient must be identified and tested as per the COVID-19 guidelines.

India on Sunday reported 45,209 new COVID-19 cases, taking the case tally to 90,95,807 while the death toll mounted to 1,33,227 after 501 new deaths were reported from the country.
