Dalit girl’s rape and murder: 18-year-old prime suspect found dead

Jind Rape Kurukshetra: 18-year-old prime suspect found dead: In a shocking twist in the brutal gang-rape and murder case of a 15-year-old Dalit girl, a  Class 12 student who was the main suspect from a village in Kurukshetra, was found dead late Tuesday night, officials said.

The 15 year old girl was gang-raped and her private parts were mutilated after her murder. The class 10 victim was reported missing on January 09 after she left her home for tuition.

Kurukshetra’s deputy superintendent of police Dheeraj Singh said the body has been sent for postmortem after family members identified it.

The girl's half-naked body was found on Saturday about 110 km from Jhansa, her native village.

A Class 12 student had been detained for questioning.

A doctor at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak who carried out the autopsy said more than two persons sexually assaulted her and used a blunt weapon that ruptured her liver.

The girl's family and other villagers have been in a state of shock and disbelief, ever since the crime came to light. Two special investigation teams (SITs) under DSP-rank officers have been constituted to probe the incident.
