Gurnam Singh Charuni's Blueprint for farmers' protest: Toll-free hours in Haryana, tractor parades and more...

PTC Web Desk: In the midst of the ongoing farmers' protest, Gurnam Singh Charuni, leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, on Thursday declared that they would refrain from paying tolls in Haryana for a three-hour period on Friday. Following this, a tractor parade is scheduled to take place in every Tehsil the next day, with a joint meeting of all farmers' and labour organisations planned for Saturday. These decisions were made during a meeting of the Bharatiya Kisan Union office-bearers convened by Gurnam Singh Charuni.

"We have made three decisions: firstly, Haryana will be toll-free for three hours tomorrow (Feb 16), from 12 pm to 3 pm; the day after tomorrow, there will be a tractor parade in every Tehsil starting from 12 pm; on February 18, there will be a joint meeting of all farmers' and labor organisations," said Charuni during a press briefing. He also mentioned that additional decisions would be deliberated upon during the upcoming meeting.

The protest, organised by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and the Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, led by Jagjeet Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher, aims to secure better crop prices, a complete debt waiver, and a pension scheme for farmers and farm labourers. The farmers emphasise that these demands were assured by the government after concluding the 2021 protest.
