Why INLD Haryana unit chief Nafe Singh Rathee's attackers spared his nephew?

PTC Web Desk: The assailants of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Haryana unit chief Nafe Singh Rathee, after committing the gruesome act, spared Rathee's nephew's life, instructing him to inform others about the horrifying incident, as per police reports.

The shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the political landscape after the brutal murder of Nafe Singh Rathee in Bahadurgarh near Delhi. 

The Haryana Police have filed charges against 12 persons, including ex-Bahadurgarh BJP MLA Naresh Kaushik. Among the accused are Bahadurgarh Municipal Council chairperson Saroj Rathee’s husband Ramesh Rathee, close relatives Karambir Rathee and Kamal Rathee, former minister Mange Ram Rathee’s son Satish Numberdar, grandson Gaurav, Rahul, and five unidentified assailants. The charges encompass murder and conspiracy. Ramesh Rathee is the former chairperson of the Bahadurgarh Municipal Council.


Nafe

The slain leader's son, Jitendra Rathee, has declared that the family will not perform the last rites of his father until all accused mentioned in the FIR are arrested, and adequate security is provided to the grieving family.

Notably, unidentified attackers opened fire at Nafe Singh Rathee's SUV on a fateful Sunday. Jitendra Rathee, expressing his demand for justice, said, "Police and administration should arrest all the accused as early as possible." He said the family would not proceed with the last rites until justice was served. He also suspects possible involvement of local politicians in the heinous crime and revealed that his father had been seeking security for the past five years.

Senior INLD leader Abhay Chautala pointed fingers at the state government, holding them responsible for Rathee's murder. Chautala called for a CBI probe into the incident, alleging that Nafe Rathee had previously communicated security threats to senior police officials in writing. Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar assured that no culprit involved in the case would be spared. He instructed the police to expedite the arrest of the accused and take the strictest possible action.

In response to the tragic event, the Haryana police established a Special Task Force to investigate the matter thoroughly and trace the accused. One of the significant developments in the investigation is the emergence of CCTV footage showing four suspects travelling in a car near the attack site. The video captures the alleged assailants' movements in a Hyundai i10 just before the firing occurred. However, the number plate of the vehicle remains unidentified in the footage.

Nafe Singh Rathee, a 67-year-old seasoned politician, suffered fatal injuries in the neck, stomach, spine, and thigh during the attack. His two-decade-long political career included being elected as MLA from Bahadurgarh twice, in 1996 and 2005. The assassination has not only raised questions about the safety of politicians, but has also ignited a political storm, with demands for justice, a thorough investigation, and heightened security for the grieving family.
