Karnataka man released from Kuwait jail after 7 months

A 40-year-old Karnataka man, who was arrested seven months ago by the Kuwait police, was released today (January 16). The Karnataka man was identified as Shankara Poojary. He hails from Basroor, Kundapur. He was arrested for carrying banned medicine.

Shankara Poojary was working at a food and agriculture firm in Kuwait. In May 2018, he came home on holiday. On his return, his colleague requested him to take a parcel along with him. He agreed to the request. The police found banned medicines in the parcel and he was arrested.

Kuwait Karnataka man released from Kuwait jail after 7 months

The Karnataka administration took up his case and held talks with the Kuwait police. The administration convinces the Kuwait police that he was innocent, following which he was released today.
