70-year-old man lynched by nine people in Maharashtra; eight held A 70-year-old man was lynched on Friday evening by a group of nine people over a theft complaint against them in Vasai in Palghar district of Maharashtra. The victim has been identified as Ramchandra Raut. During this questioning, one of the accused strangled him while others were kicking him continuously. Following the attack, Ramchandra Raut was rushed to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. After the incident, one of his relatives lodged a complaint against the accused at the Vasai police station.  The police has arrested eight people in the connection so far. Police has booked the case under sections 302 (murder), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation). -PTC NEWS
