Massive fire breaks out at Delhi’s Chandni Chowk; many shops charred in blaze

New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at Lajpat Rai Market in Chandni Chowk on Thursday. A total of 13 fire tenders rushed to the site to douse the flame.

The fire in Lajpat Rai Market, which is just opposite the Red Fort, took place at around 4.45 am on Thursday.

Visuals showed large flames swallowing shops as firefighters and local residents tried to control the blaze. Later, the photographs from the spot showed charred shops and products burnt to ash.

A whole line of small shops was seen burning in a video captured from the spot.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said that no causality has been reported in Chandni Chowk's Lajpat Rai Market fire incident.

13 fire tenders were rushed to put off the fire, it added.
