4 killed, several injured as bus plunges into gorge in Mandi

PTC News Desk: An HRTC bus plunged about 25 metres off the road near Tarangla, close to Maseran in the Sarkaghat subdivision of Mandi district today, leaving four people dead and several others injured.
The bus was travelling from Sarkaghat to Durgapur when the accident occurred.
Mandi SP Sakshi Verma confirmed that the incident fell under the jurisdiction of the Sarkaghat Police Station. Initial reports indicate that four individuals — two men and two women — died at the scene.
The injured were immediately taken to the Civil Hospital in Sarkaghat, while three critically injured passengers were referred to AIIMS-Bilaspur for specialised treatment. Authorities are still working to confirm the total number of passengers, though early estimates suggest around 31 people were on board at the time.
Local police and teams from the 108 ambulance service responded swiftly, conducting rescue efforts across the challenging terrain. The cause of the crash is still unknown, and an investigation is ongoing.
"Necessary legal action is being taken, and figures are being confirmed," SP Sakshi Verma added.
