Four labourers feared dead, five Army personnel missing after flash flood triggers landslide in Arunachal

PTC News Desk: At least four labourers are feared dead and five Army personnel went missing after a landslide triggered by flash flood washed away two shelters in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday evening.

Personnel from Nacho Police Station have been deployed for the search and recovery operation. Fire and Emergency Services teams are also being sent from Daporijo, while the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will assist in the rescue efforts.
The flash flood reportedly swept away seven Army personnel. Two of them were rescued, while five remain missing. The missing personnel have been identified as Havaldar Upendar, Kundan, Vinod, Aditya and Samunda.
Two search and rescue teams from the 5th Grenadier have already been deployed. Teams from the 58th Battalion of the ITBP, 62 RCC of the General Reserve Engineer Force, Arunachal Pradesh Police and local volunteers have also been rushed to the area. An SDRF team from Pasighat is travelling to Anini to support the operation.
Meanwhile, heavy monsoon rains have caused widespread floods and landslides across Arunachal Pradesh, killing more than 10 people.
According to the state disaster management department, the floods and landslides have caused extensive damage to public infrastructure. Hundreds of roads, bridges, culverts, water supply systems, power lines, electric poles, government buildings and schools have been damaged, along with irrigation and hydropower projects, retaining walls and flood protection structures.
