PTC Web Desk:  A wave of panic spread across several schools in Punjab's Ludhiana on Tuesday morning after authorities received emails threatening bomb explosions inside school premises and trains later in the day. The alarming messages claimed that blasts would occur in schools at 1:11 pm and on trains at 3:11 pm, prompting immediate security action across the city.

According to preliminary information, the threatening emails also mentioned Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and warned of retaliation for alleged “fake police encounters.” While the authenticity of the emails is yet to be verified, the threats triggered swift responses from law enforcement agencies.

Soon after the alerts were reported, the Ludhiana police rushed to the affected campuses along with bomb disposal squads and dog squads. Security teams launched extensive anti-sabotage checks across the school premises. Classrooms, corridors, playgrounds and other areas were thoroughly searched to ensure there were no explosives or suspicious objects on the grounds.

Heavy police deployment was also seen outside the schools as authorities attempted to reassure parents and staff members. The sudden threat created anxiety among school administrations and employees, though officials have said that the situation remains under control.

Investigators have also begun tracing the origin of the threatening emails. Cybercrime teams are examining digital trails to identify the sender and determine whether the messages were part of a hoax or a coordinated attempt to create panic.

Officials noted that similar threats have been reported in Punjab in recent months. On February 10, at least 16 schools in Mohali received emails warning of a bomb blast scheduled for 1:11 PM. That email also included a threat against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. After a detailed search by security teams, no explosives or suspicious items were discovered.

Another incident occurred on March 2 in Jalandhar, where two school, including one located within the Punjab Armed Police campus, received similar threatening emails. Police investigations at the time also failed to uncover any explosives.

Panic in Gurugram schools

Meanwhile, panic gripped several schools in Gurugram also on Tuesday after bomb threat emails were sent to multiple institutions claiming that explosive devices had been planted inside the school buildings. The alarming messages prompted immediate security alerts across the affected campuses.

Soon after the threats were reported, police teams rushed to the schools along with the bomb disposal squad and dog squad. Authorities began a detailed search operation to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and other staff members. Classrooms, corridors, and other parts of the campuses were carefully inspected as part of the security checks.

As a precautionary step, school administrations evacuated the buildings and asked students to return home while the security teams carried out thorough inspections of the premises.

Officials said the search operation is still underway in some schools. However, no suspicious objects have been found so far during the checks.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to trace the source of the threatening emails. Cyber experts are examining digital evidence to identify the sender and determine the authenticity of the threat.

Authorities have assured parents and the public that the situation is under control and said further updates will be provided as the search operations and investigation progress.
