PTC News Desk: Months after a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was found dead under mysterious circumstances in NCB's custody, his autopsy report has revealed 34 injuries on his body, raising questions on sequence of circumstances that led to his death.

Jaswinder Singh, 35, died after his health deteriorated during questioning by the NCB in Amritsar, Punjab, the police had said in March.

According to the report, Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Jammu was brought to Amritsar for questioning by the NCB, where he died under mysterious circumstances.

The postmortem report, conducted by doctors at the district civil hospital in Amritsar, was shared by the victim's family and Sarabjit Singh Verka, chief investigator of the Punjab Human Rights Organisation (PHRO).

His family had alleged that the NCB team assaulted Jaswinder, while the agency said in a statement that he died after suffering ‘two cardiac events’.

“Jaswinder Singh was arrested on the basis of evidence derived from technical analysis, which revealed that he was in contact with smugglers based in Pakistan, Punjab, and Jammu. Based on the investigation, he was taken to Amritsar, Punjab, on the evening of 19.03.2026 for further investigation,” an NCB spokesperson had said.

Meanwhile, the deceased's wife, Lovejit Kaur, said  “The FIR has not been lodged either in Jammu or in Amritsar. We are being harassed.”

“The autopsy report proves that my husband was tortured to death. 34 injuries establish that the NCB personnel subjected him to brutality in custody,” she alleged.
