Delhi shocker: IRS officer's 22-year-old daughter strangled to death in South Delhi, accused at large
Delhi shocker: In a horrifying incident, a 22-year-old woman was strangled to death in the South-East Delhi’s Amar Colony area on Wednesday morning. The victim was daughter of a senior Income Tax Department officer.
According to preliminary investigation, she was allegedly sexually assaulted and then strangled using a mobile phone charging cable.
According to police, the victim was alone at home when the incident took place, as her parents had gone to the gym. Her body was later found under suspicious circumstances, after which police teams reached the spot. Police, forensic, and crime teams are now closely examining the scene.
Investigators suspect the involvement of a former domestic help who had been dismissed around six weeks ago.
Suspicion grew after the accused was reportedly seen on a nearby CCTV camera around 6:00 am on Wednesday. Police believe he may have been waiting nearby and entered the house after the parents left.
Sources said the victim tried to resist, after which the accused allegedly hit her on the head to overpower her and then strangled her. The victim, an engineering graduate was preparing for the UPSC civil services exam. Investigators suspect the timing was planned, as household staff usually arrive later in the day.
The accused, who is from Rajasthan, is currently absconding. Several police teams have been formed to catch him, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being checked to track his movements. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to piece together the sequence of events and arrest the accused.
