Delhi IRS officer's daughter's killing: Two sexual assaults, one murder, suspect's crime trail from Alwar to Delhi

A 22-year-old engineering graduate preparing for the UPSC was found dead at her residence in East of Kailash, southeast Delhi, on Wednesday.

The victim, whose father is an Indian Revenue Service officer, was discovered by her family. Initial investigations indicate that she was sexually assaulted and later strangled using a mobile phone charger cable, police said.

A 19-year-old former domestic worker, identified as Rahul, has been arrested from a hotel in Dwarka in connection with the case. He had been dismissed from the household over a month ago due to complaints about borrowing money from other staff and not returning it. Police tracked his movements after the crime, which led to his arrest at the hotel. During the investigation, officials uncovered disturbing details about his activities. They suspect that just hours before the Delhi incident, Rahul had allegedly raped another woman in his village in Alwar.

The survivor in Alwar reported the assault to her family. Rahul was known to her husband, and the two often played Ludo together. The families also had prior connections, as Rahul’s family had earlier lived as tenants in the woman’s house.

After the alleged assault in Alwar, Rahul travelled to Delhi, where the murder occurred. Police said the exact motive behind the killing is still being examined, including whether anger over his dismissal played a role.

Joint Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar stated that the accused had committed a similar offence in Alwar shortly before the Delhi incident, suggesting a possible pattern of criminal behaviour. He added that resentment over losing his job could also have contributed, but the exact motive will only be confirmed after detailed interrogation.
