No evidence found: CBI gives clean chit to 2024 NEET paper leak mastermind Sanjeev Mukhiya

PTC News Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday said it found no evidence linking alleged paper leak kingpin Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanjeev Mukhiya to the theft or distribution of the NEET-UG 2024 question paper, despite his initial inclusion as an accused in the FIR registered by Bihar Police.

The CBI said the case began after Bihar Police uncovered the alleged theft of the NEET-UG 2024 question paper and registered an FIR. At that time, Sanjeev Kumar, also known as Sanjeev Mukhiya, was named as an accused based on initial suspicion because his name had reportedly surfaced in other exam paper leak cases.

After the investigation was handed over to the CBI, the agency said it identified everyone involved in stealing, distributing and benefiting from the leaked question paper. It has so far filed multiple chargesheets against 45 accused in a court in Patna.

However, the CBI said its investigation found no evidence linking Mukhiya to the theft or distribution of the NEET-UG 2024 paper.

According to the agency, "During the investigation, no evidence was found to establish the involvement of Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanjeev Mukhiya in the theft or distribution of the leaked NEET-UG 2024 question paper."

The CBI added that it carried out a detailed and comprehensive investigation and is satisfied that the entire conspiracy has been uncovered and that all those involved have been identified.
