Delhi Assembly gets bomb threat ahead of Budget presentation; premises evacuated, search underway

According to the officials, an email was sent to the Assembly's official email accounting warning to blow up the premises.

PTC News Desk: Ahead of the Budget 2026-27 presentation, Delhi Legislative Assembly received fresh bomb threats via email on Tuesday, prompting intensified security across the national capital. 


According to the officials, an email was sent to the Assembly's official email accounting warning to blow up the premises. 


Soon after receiving the email, several team of Delhi Police along with bomb disposal squad swung into action and initiated search operation. Premises were immediately evacuated.  


The email also threatened to blow up Vidhan Sabha Metro Station, besides Assembly complex. 


The threatening email mentioned several high-profile political figures including Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. It also referred to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.


So far no suspicious object has been found on the premises or other areas. The cyber teams are tracing the origin of the emails and investigation is underway to determine the credibility of the threats.
