PTC Web Desk: The Delhi High Court on Monday disposed of a petition filed by actor Celina Jaitly after being informed that her detained brother does not wish to communicate with her at present.

During the hearing, the court was told that Major (Retd) Vikrant Jaitly, who is currently in custody in the UAE, has clearly refused to speak with his sister during multiple consular interactions. He has also chosen not to take any legal assistance for now, stating that any future decision on legal matters will be taken by his wife.

Taking note of these developments, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav decided to close the case. The court was also informed that Indian embassy officials have already met Vikrant Jaitly several times since his detention.

A detailed report from the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi was submitted in court, confirming that he has repeatedly declined to contact Celina Jaitly.

The case had been under hearing for the past few weeks. Earlier, the court had asked the government to help arrange a meeting between the siblings and also explore legal options for Vikrant Jaitly. It had even suggested that he could appoint a lawyer of his choice if he did not want the one arranged by the authorities.

During previous hearings, the court had also encouraged family members to work together to secure his release. However, the Centre clarified that under the existing agreement between India and the UAE, courts cannot directly arrange such meetings, though embassy officials can assist within local rules.

With Vikrant Jaitly currently unwilling to communicate or accept legal help, the court has now ended the proceedings. Any further action will depend on whether he changes his decision in the future.
