PTC Web Desk: A 70-year-old woman was killed in a road accident in Delhi’s Narela area on Saturday morning after a speeding Mercedes collided head-on with a WagonR. The woman, identified as Urmila, was out for her morning walk when she became trapped between the vehicles following the crash. The accident took place around 8 am near Himalaya Apartments in Mamurpur.
Woman trapped between vehicles, dies on spot
According to the preliminary police investigation, the Mercedes collided with a WagonR and the force of the impact pushed the smaller car backwards. The WagonR then hit a three-wheeler loading van that was parked some distance behind it. Urmila, who was nearby, got trapped between the WagonR and the three-wheeler. She suffered critical injuries and died at the scene, officials said.
The driver of the WagonR sustained minor injuries and was provided first aid.

The Mercedes was being driven by Shubham, who is reportedly the son of a Haryana Police sub-inspector. The police arrested him from the accident site shortly after the crash.
Eyewitnesses alleged that Shubham was under the influence of alcohol and was driving the Mercedes at high speed. Visuals from the spot showed him sitting behind the wheel after the crash, appearing distressed. A liquor bottle was also reportedly visible in the car’s cup holder.
The police said the Mercedes belonged to Shubham’s friend and that he had borrowed the luxury car for a trip a day before the accident.
Medical test conducted to check alcohol consumption
Following his arrest, Shubham was taken for a medical examination. The police are waiting for the medical report to establish whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Officials said a case under provisions related to death caused by negligence and other applicable sections is being registered. Urmila’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
