Third consecutive day of bomb threats: Multiple Delhi schools receive hoax emails

PTC Web Desk: At least five prominent schools across Delhi received bomb threat emails on Wednesday morning, marking the third straight day of such incidents. The Delhi Police confirmed that all threats have so far been deemed hoaxes, though thorough searches are being conducted in accordance with standard security protocols.

The threatening emails alleged that explosive materials had been planted within school premises. The authorities identified the affected institutions as St Thomas School in Dwarka, Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj, Mother’s International School in Hauz Khas, Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodi Estate. This marks the second consecutive day that St. Thomas School has received a similar threat.

Emergency response teams, including the Delhi Fire Service, local police, and bomb detection and disposal squads, were quickly dispatched to the schools. Students who had arrived were safely evacuated, and their parents were promptly informed.

“We received early morning alerts from the schools and immediately sent in the bomb squads and special cell teams. All precautions are being taken, though no suspicious materials have been found so far,” said a senior police officer. The email threats reportedly arrived around 8 am.

According to officials, nearly 10 schools and one college have received similar threats since Monday. On Tuesday, St  Thomas School and St Stephen’s College were targeted, resulting in evacuations. Monday saw threat emails sent to Navy School in Chanakyapuri, CRPF School in Dwarka, and a school in Rohini. No explosives were discovered at any of the sites.

The police are actively investigating the origin of the emails but have yet to trace the sender.

In the wake of Wednesday’s threat, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya issued a message to parents: “Dear Parents, Due to a potential bomb threat received this morning and based on police advice, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya will remain closed today, July 16, 2025. A Bomb Disposal Squad is conducting a complete sanitisation of the premises. We will keep you updated... For those students who commute independently, please pick them up from either the junior school gate or the senior school ground gate. Bus commuters will be sent home via the usual route.”
