PTC News Desk: Dense fog blanketed Delhi on Monday morning, significantly reducing visibility across several parts of the city and triggering an alert from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport over possible flight delays.

Visuals shared by ANI from areas such as Akshardham and Dhaula Kuan showed vehicles moving at a crawl, as drivers struggled with extremely poor visibility. In many locations, visibility fell below 50 metres, severely disrupting traffic on key roads and highways. Officials cautioned that conditions could worsen as the morning advanced.

Flights Likely to Be Disrupted

Air travel was also affected due to the foggy conditions. Operations at IGI Airport were conducted under CAT III procedures, which permit aircraft landings in very low visibility but often result in delays.

Airport authorities issued an advisory warning passengers that both incoming and outgoing flights could be impacted and urged travellers to check the latest updates with their respective airlines.

“Flight operations are currently being conducted under CAT III conditions due to dense fog, which may cause delays. Passengers are requested to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight information or visit our official website. Please be assured that our on-ground officials are available across all terminals to provide necessary Support," Delhi airport said in a tweet at 7 AM.

According to official data, the air quality index (AQI) of the national capital stood at 196 at around 6:30 AM, placing it in the “moderate to poor" category.
