Eight-month-old among five of family killed as car plunges into deep gorge on Pathankot-Chamba National highway

The family's eight-month-old baby had been unwell for the past few days and was scheduled to undergo ear surgery at PGIMER Chandigarh.

PTC News Desk: Five members of a family were killed after their car lost control during heavy rain and plunged into a deep gorge on the Pathankot–Chamba National Highway in Himachal Pradesh. The victims included an eight-month-old baby and two women. All of them were trapped inside the vehicle after the accident.



The family's eight-month-old baby had been unwell for the past few days and was scheduled to undergo ear surgery at PGIMER Chandigarh. Four family members were travelling with the child to Chandigarh for treatment when the accident occurred.


The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined. After the post-mortem, the bodies will be handed over to the family.


Gahra Gram Panchayat Pradhan Indu confirmed the incident. The tragedy has left the victims' relatives and local residents in deep shock, while the administration is completing the identification process and other necessary formalities.
