Petrol bomb hurled at house in Chandigarh's Sector 25, incident caught on CCTV; six arrested

PTC News Desk: A petrol bomb was hurled at a house in Chandigarh's sector 25 late Sunday night. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, triggering panic among local residents. Soon after receiving the information, police reached the spot and launched investigation into the matter. 


According to the CCTV around five to six miscreants arrived outside the house, smashed its windows, damaged a motorcycle and hurled a petrol bomb at the gate. The bottle burst into flames on impact, causing a fire outside the house and creating panic in the neighbourhood. Local residents rushed to control the fire and alerted the police.

All accused arrested

Police said that after the attack in Sector 25, the same group allegedly went to the Maloya area, where they vandalised three to four vehicles using baseball bats, smashing their windows. The back-to-back incidents caused widespread alarm in the area.

Using CCTV footage, local intelligence, and technical evidence, police arrested all six suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that all the accused are residents of Dadu Majra in Chandigarh.

According to police officials, the arrested men already have several criminal cases registered against them. They are currently being questioned, and investigators are examining all aspects of the case. Sources indicated that the attack appears to have been driven by an old personal rivalry.

Police have seized the items allegedly used in the incident, along with CCTV footage and other evidence, and are continuing their investigation. The six accused are expected to be produced before a court, where police will seek their remand to further investigate the motive, the planning behind the attacks, the weapons used, and the possible involvement of others.
