PTC News Desk: Gangster Sharad Mohol was shot dead by members of his own gang in Pune, police officials informed. According to an official, eight suspects were apprehended from a vehicle on the Pune-Satara road, and three pistols, three magazines, and five rounds were seized from them.
Around 1:30 p.m., three to four assailants opened fire on Mohol, 40, at point-blank range in Kothrud's Sutardara locality. According to the police official, a bullet pierced his chest and two bullets entered his right shoulder.
According to the official, he died while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kothrud.
Mohol had several cases filed against him, including murder and dacoity. He was acquitted in the case involving the murder of suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Mohammad Qateel Siddiqui inside the Yerawada jail.
The official believes his death was the result of a land and money dispute within his gang.
Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, told reporters that Mohol was killed by his own associates, indicating that it was not a gang war.
"As our government knows how to deal with such notorious elements, no one dares to get involved in a gang war," said the Deputy Chief Minister.
