PTC News Desk: A 31-year-old man died after falling from the 21st floor of a residential society in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday evening. The incident reportedly occurred when he tried to escape from his flat through the balcony after his estranged wife arrived at his home.

The man, identified as Harshit Lavania, allegedly attempted to reach the balcony of the flat on the floor below but lost his footing and fell. The incident took place at Centurion Park Tropical Garden Society in Greater Noida West, under the jurisdiction of Bisrakh police station.

According to police, Lavania lived alone in a rented flat and worked at a company. He married in 2024, but disputes between the couple reportedly began soon after their wedding. His wife had been living separately for around six months.

On Monday evening, his wife arrived at the flat and knocked on the door. Lavania was inside but reportedly refused to open it, fearing another argument. She tried to speak to him from outside but received no response. She then called security personnel and attempted to get the door opened.

During this time, Lavania allegedly climbed out through the balcony and tried to move to the balcony of the flat below. However, he lost his footing and fell from the building.

He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital by fellow residents, where doctors declared him dead.

After the incident, his father, Amitabh Lavania, and other family members reached the spot. The family said Harshit had been under mental stress for some time because of the ongoing dispute with his wife.

Bisrakh police said an investigation was underway. Officers are questioning Lavania’s wife and examining CCTV footage from the residential society to establish the sequence of events.

Police said no complaint had been received in the case so far. Further action will be taken based on the investigation's findings.
