Gurugram cab driver arrested for harassing woman, dropping her mid way
Traumatised by the incident and fearing for her safety, the woman managed to step out of the car and showed remarkable bravery by recording a video while confronting the driver.
PTC News Desk: The Gurugram Police has arrested a 22-year-old cab driver who allegedly misbehaved with a woman and dropping her mid-ride. The arrest was made within hours of the incident ensuring safety of the woman.
The incident unfolded on December 15, 2025 when the woman booked a cab to return home from her office. The trouble began when she asked the driver to lower the volume of car's music. Despite her multiple pleas, the driver refused to lower the volume and instead subjected her to yelling and abusive and insulting language.
The driver then allegedly asked her to get out of the vehicle mid-way. However when she protested that she cannot be asked to leave mid-way as she had booked to ride to her home, the driver drove the vehicle in another direction.
Traumatised by the incident and fearing for her safety, the woman managed to step out of the car and showed remarkable bravery by recording a video while confronting the driver. Despite the driver standing outside and watching her, she promptly dialled 112/100 to seek police help.
Based on her complaint, the Sector-50 Police Station registered Case No. 359 under Sections 77 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police acted swiftly, tracing and arresting the accused from Sector-50 later that same night. The accused, identified as a resident of Rohtak district, confessed during questioning that the altercation arose over the volume of music and claimed that the woman speaking on her phone provoked him into committing the offence. The vehicle involved in the incident was also recovered from his possession.
Addressing the viral social media videos of the incident, PRO Gurugram Sandeep Kumar, said, "action had already been taken well before the footage began circulating widely of a cab driver harassing a young woman. The accused driver was arrested by Gurugram Police that same night. The cab used in the incident has also been recovered from his possession. Gurugram Police is committed to ensuring the safety of women and takes immediate action on such complaints."
