19-year-old student from Ludhiana killed in road accident in Australia
PTC News Desk: A 19-year-old student from Punjab's Ludhiana district was killed in a road accident in Australia on Saturday when she was returning home from work.
The deceased student has been identified as Komalpreet Kaur, resident of village Kalsian near Raikot/Halwara in Ludhiana and was studying nursing in Perth. She was also working part-time besides working to support her finances.
Her father, Amrik Singh, is a retired Subedar from the Indian Army.
The incident was unfolded on Saturday when Komalpreet was hit by a speeding car in the Cannington area while she was returning from work after her night shift. The impact of the colission was so severe that she died on the spot.
Police said she suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Komalpreet Kaur had moved to Australia last year with dreams of building a bright future. She was pursuing nursing studies at the well-known Stanley College in Perth. To manage her education and living expenses, she was also working a part-time job alongside her studies.
No charges have been filed so far against the 19-year-old driver of the Hyundai, who, according to police, is cooperating with the investigation. Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Squad are examining the circumstances of the incident and have appealed for eyewitnesses, dashcam footage, or mobile phone videos related to the crash.
