PTC Web Desk:  Two migrant labourers were burnt alive and another sustained critical injuries after a major fire engulfed a factory in the Modern Industrial Estate of Bahadurgarh in the early hours of Thursday, officials said.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul and Ameeruddin, popularly known as Bade Bhaiya, both natives of Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh. The injured worker, Arif, also from Hardoi, has been admitted to a nearby hospital, where doctors described his condition as critical.

According to preliminary information, the unit is engaged in manufacturing footwear components. The fire reportedly broke out around 5 am, catching the workers off guard while they were asleep inside the factory premises.

The blaze spread swiftly, leaving the labourers trapped inside with little chance to escape. Fire Officer Ravindra Kumar said multiple fire tenders were pressed into service soon after the incident was reported. “The fire was eventually doused after considerable effort. During the search operation, the bodies of two workers were recovered from inside the factory,” he said.

Police officials said the bodies have been sent to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and a detailed probe has been initiated.

Authorities are questioning the factory management and other relevant persons to ascertain whether safety norms were followed and to fix responsibility.
