Haryana government to flag off special train from Kurukshetra to Sri Hazur Sahib for pilgrims

Senior citizens aged above 60 years with an annual family income below ₹1.80 lakh can avail of this scheme free of cost.

PTC News Desk: Under the Haryana government’s Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana, a special train will run from Kurukshetra to Sri Hazur Sahib on May 5. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will flag off the train carrying pilgrims from across the state.


Senior citizens aged above 60 years with an annual family income below ₹1.80 lakh can avail of this scheme free of cost. Registrations can be done on the SARAL Haryana portal until April 15, either through nearby CSC centres or online via smartphones.


Applicants must be Haryana residents and provide valid photo ID (such as Aadhaar or PAN), a Family Identity Card (PPP), a self-declaration of fitness for travel, and confirmation that they have not used the scheme in the past three years. Senior citizens may take one attendant along (aged 18–60), but the attendant must pay full fare. The scheme follows a first-come, first-served basis and can be availed once every three years.


The government will arrange accommodation, meals, and local transport for the pilgrims.


Post-registration requirement:

After registering, applicants must inform the District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO) in their district by April 16 to ensure their details are forwarded to the Railways on time.
