Videos circulating on social media reportedly showed an armed tourist openly waiving a pistol on the street shortly after the incident, sparking concern among residents and visitors alike.
According to police, the confrontation began over a disagreement related to vehicle parking in the Kasol market. What initially started as a verbal argument between a group of tourists and local youths soon intensified into a heated clash.
During the scuffle, one of the tourists is accused of pulling out a pistol and opening fire at a local youth. The gunshot created chaos in the crowded market, with people scrambling for safety as fear spread through the area.
The injured youth was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the incident. Authorities also recovered the pistol allegedly used in the firing and seized the vehicle in which the accused were travelling.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and the role of each accused in the incident. Police are also examining video footage circulating online as part of the probe.
