Himachal Pradesh rains: IMD issues floods warning for seven districts including Shimla, Chamba
The Shimla Meteorological Centre has also issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas of four to five districts until July 30 and again on August 3.
The Meteorological Centre has issued a flash flood warning for seven districts of Himachal Pradesh over the next 24 hours as continuous monsoon rain continues to lash the state, causing landslides and disrupting traffic.
According to the weather department, there is a low to moderate risk of flash floods in parts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Solan districts. People have been advised to stay away from vulnerable areas, riverbanks, and other water bodies as a safety measure.
The weather office has also issued orange and yellow alerts across all 12 districts of the state.
An orange alert has been issued for Shimla, Kangra, Solan, Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una, Chamba, and Sirmaur districts, where heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places throughout the day. A yellow alert has been issued for Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul and Spiti districts, where light to moderate rain is likely.
Meanwhile, a landslide near Rajiv Bhawan disrupted traffic on Cart Road in Shimla after debris fell onto the road, partially blocking vehicles. Police and district administration officials reached the spot, cordoned off the affected area, and started clearing the debris.
