IAF Sukhoi-30 fighter jet goes missing over Assam’s Karbi Anglong, search underway

No information regarding the pilot’s safety has been confirmed so far, the PRO stated

PTC Web Desk: A Indian Air Force Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter aircraft lost radar contact on Thursday evening while flying over Karbi Anglong, officials confirmed.

According to Defence PRO Lt Col Mahender Rawat, the aircraft had taken off from Jorhat Air Base and was last in contact at 7:42 pm. He added that search and rescue operations have been launched to determine the status of the missing jet.

No information regarding the pilot’s safety has been confirmed so far, the PRO stated.

Meanwhile, local residents from the Chokihola area in the Bokajan subdivision reported that the aircraft might have crashed in a forested area. Authorities have said a team is being prepared to verify the claims, but no official confirmation is available at this time.

Search efforts are ongoing as the IAF and local authorities coordinate to locate the fighter jet and its pilot.
