Indian engineer allegedly detained in Moscow, wife claims being pressured into joining Russian army
She has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for immediate intervention and help in securing his safe return.
PTC News Desk: An Indian engineer from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh who had travelled to Moscow for a project linked to a Noida-based company, has allegedly been detained with his wife claiming wrongful and coercion to join the Russian army.
She has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for immediate intervention and help in securing his safe return.
Sneha also claimed that her husband was detained and taken to jail despite not committing any wrongdoings and was being pressurised into joining the Russian army following his detention. She also claimed that manpower shortage in the army led to attempts to recruit foreign nationals including Indians.

Sneha Chandan Gupta, who is currently in Moscow, shared a video on social media claiming that her husband, Chandan Gupta, was detained by Moscow Police at around 12:30 pm on Sunday.
Sneha said she is now in Moscow with their 10-year-old son and is unsure about what to do. The family is from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Chandan, who works as an engineer, is associated with a company based in Sector 62, Noida. He had travelled to Russia on a work visa for a professional assignment.
Sneha has appealed to the Indian and Uttar Pradesh governments to intervene and help bring her husband safely back to India.
However, there is currently no independent confirmation about the exact circumstances of Chandan’s detention, the allegations against him or whether any formal steps have been taken to recruit him into the Russian military.
Family seeks help from PM Modi and Yogi Adityanath
In her video, Sneha appeared emotional as she sought government help. She said she does not understand the Russian language, making it difficult for her to find out what has happened to her husband or why he was detained.
She said the couple’s 10-year-old son has also been left distressed by the situation.
Sneha urged people to share her video widely and requested authorities to take immediate notice of the case. She specifically appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to intervene and ensure her husband’s safe return to India.
