IPL game night turns fatal: Two cousins while returning home after watching an IPL match, were killed after their bike was rammed by a truck on Delhi's Parliament Street.
The accident happened while the younger boy was talking to his father on the phone, telling him they would reach home soon.
Police got a call about the incident around 10:30 pm on Monday. When they arrived, both boys were found unconscious on the road in critical condition. They were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared them dead, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma. The truck driver fled the scene with the vehicle.
The victims were identified as 20-year-old Yagya Bhatia, a BSc student at Swami Vivekananda University, and his 14-year-old brother Abhav Bhatia, a Class 10 student at Hansraj School. Police said they were returning home after watching an IPL match between Delhi and Bengaluru when a truck hit their bike from behind. Neither of them was wearing a helmet.

Eyewitnesses said the crash was very strong, throwing both boys and their bike onto the road. People nearby called the police and helped take them to the hospital, but they could not be saved.
Police and forensic teams examined the spot and collected evidence. A case has been registered based on eyewitness statements. The truck was later found in the trans-Yamuna area, where the driver had left it with its owner. The vehicle, which was carrying debris, has been seized, and police are trying to arrest the driver.
The case is being treated as a hit-and-run.
